Short intro: I have made a list of the 3, nay 5 best Samsung smartphones under 450 euros. These were selected based on price, storage space, camera, screen size and speed.

Recently, I taught a workshop on how to take great photos and videos with your phone. And it was noted that some did not have enough storage space on their phones or did not have the same functions. And so I was asked to recommend some good phones, with the comment: “Preferably Samsung, because I already know how to use it!” No problem. Just for you, my favourite affordable samsung smartphones.

Top 3 affordable Samsung phones of 2021

All the phones in this article were released in early 2021 and are considered mid-range Samsung Galaxy phones. They come with their own charger and have a USB-C connection and a separate AUX jack for your headphones. They also all have mini-SD card slots, should 128 GB of storage not be enough.

I have made a list of the 3, nay 5 best Samsung smartphones under 450 euros. These were selected based on price, storage space, camera, display size and speed. Criteria that you, dear reader, found most important. I don’t want to bore you with all the technical details, but sometimes it is necessary to mention them.

Why buy a mid-range phone and not a low-budget one?

The first reason is very simple. You use your phone daily! If you look at the cost of your phone and how long you plan to use it, it usually works out cheaper to get a slightly more expensive model that has a better processor (faster), a big battery (lasts longer) and enough storage for fun photos in the long run.

The Samsung Galaxy A32

Samsung Galaxy A32 (4G)

Released in January 2021, it is one of the cheapest of the Galaxy A series, but that also means it has fewer features. What I like about it is the big battery, the big screen and 4(!) decent cameras.

Ideal if you don’t want to spend too much money on the latest gadgets, but still want a large model with a decent battery and enough storage space.

Good news! There is also a cheaper A32 with 4G! Although it only works with the current 4G network and not with 5G, it does have a much better screen!

Samsung Galaxy A32 (with 5G)

Samsung has made it (relatively) easy for us to choose a phone. Can’t figure out all those weird letters and numbers? Then read my mini guide about how Samsung names their Galaxy smartphones. Very useful to know, and it will make sure you will a decent phone for your budget.
Back to basics, the Samsung Galaxy A32, but now with 5G! I personally find this a strange combination, a phone of +- 280 euros with 5G. I would have preferred a slightly larger working memory. The advantage is that it has a slightly larger screen than the 4G version. I would say, if it has to stay cheap, get the 4G version and use the extra 50 euros to buy a nice case.

The Samsung Galaxy A52

Like the A32, the Galaxy A52 is sold in several options. The standard 4G option, but there is also a version with the more advanced 5G internet connection.

Compared to the A32, it is lighter, a little smaller (half a centimetre) but the screen diagonal has been maintained. The sound is slightly better, and the phone also has faster processor and optical image stabilisation. This helps to prevent blurry photos. On the other hand, the battery is a tad smaller.

Samsung Galaxy A52 – 4G

A very nice phone with a strong processor and much better cameras, but I do regret that the battery capacity with this phone was reduced, that would have been useful with that larger screen.
By the way, I recently bought this phone for my mum, because she only uses her phone to take pictures. (In blue!)

Samsung Galaxy A52 – 5G

This phone is my personal favourite! Top camera, future proof, very nice price for a lot of phone!
It is mainly the same phone as the A52 (4G) but better!
The screen refreshes faster, so it smoother. The processor is a tad better and, of course, you’ll be all set when 5G becomes available in your area!

The Samsung Galaxy A72

This phone came out in March 2021, so it is hot off the press. She has a nice big schreen, 6.7 inches! It therefore needs 5000mAh battery to last all day. But remember, the bigger the screen, the more the phone consumes. So I would not focus too hard on that. Compared to the A52 – 4G, there is very little difference. It’s bigger, so it’s ideal for people who love a really big phone! The Samsung Galaxy A72 is currently only available in 4G.

Conclusion

One would think, the more expensive the better. But that is not always the case. And this list clearly establishes that. Although the A32 – 4G is a great mid-range phone and highly recommended for its price, I prefer to pay an extra 100 euros and go for the A52 with 5G. It is a question of playing it safe for the long term. In 3rd place is the A52 – 4G
